The Pearl Diver An Ennin Mystery #37 eBook Ben Stevens

I gave The Pearl Diver (An Ennin Mystery #37), a short story by Ben Stevens five stars.

A young woman named Amaya Tanaka had been accused of murdering her own sister. "We followed the young guard along a couple of corridors, coming to three cells in a row, only one of which was occupied by this ama -- the 'sea woman', if the two kanji or Chinese characters in this word are to be interpreted literally."

The famous Ennin-sensei was willing to come to her aid & needed to know what had happened so she would not be executed for the murder of her sister & to do so, he put his own life at risk.
